Automaton Clock in the Form of an Airplane

This very rare French automaton timepiece pays homage to the first flying machines. It features an airplane that "flies" with a revolving propeller, around the gantry. The gantry houses a clock, thermometer and barometer. Clocks such as this were crafted for heads of industry in France during the 19th century.

An almost identical clock was exhibited at the Time Museum, Rockford, Illinois.
