Terry Silas Burnham (1807–1876)
Terryville, Connecticut, 1855
Desription
Skeleton timepiece with very rare rack lever and balance escapement, signed Silas B. Terry on the front plate. The straight line, or ladder, movement has double spring barrels providing tandem drive to the train. Eight-day duration, time only movement with deadbeat escapement. Skeleton clocks were popular in the Victorian era, due to the fascination with machinery.
