Gilt-Wood Cartel Clock

Desription

The convex painted dial is signed Jacob Kock, Stockholm. The finely crafted five-pillar square plated bell striking movement has anchor escapement and silk suspension. The cartouche-shaped gilt-wood case
has sheaf of wheat cresting, fluted urn finials, flowerheads on the corners, glazed pendulum aperture with tasseled swags of drapery across the front and similar base finial.

Jacob Kock was an exceptional maker who was clockmaker to King Gustave III of Sweden (1746–1792).
