The carved giltwood and figured mahogany girandole banjo clock, has a time-only movement. Round, convex mirrors called girandoles that were popular in the period influenced the design. Reversed-painted throat glass signed, L. Curtis, Concord. The gilded beaded frame on the bottom holds a reverse-painted scene of three figures - Lady Liberty rising from the sea, Commerce holding a flag and a child who represents the birth of America.
