As already noted, Dietrich painted several window displays during his career. He found paintings such as this one to be a colorful variation from the green landscapes of Appleton. He could park close by a store to make sketches. This window scene provides a somewhat unconventional slice of Americana. It is a cross between the art of Norman Rockwell and that of Andy Warhol.
