Mantel Clock in the Shape of a Hot Air Balloon

The hot air balloon, basket, ballast bags, fence and rock-like base are all made of brass. The diamond pattern covering the balloon consists of twisted brass ropes. The center of the dial features astrological symbols. The hot air balloon was new technology in the last half of the 19th century, making it a popular subject for a French industrial clock.
