Ormolu and “Corne Verte” Musical Mantel Clock

Desription

A lovely musical table clock at the height of the popularity of this style. The corne verte (“green horn”) bombé base offers striking contrast showcasing the exquisite bronze mounts by Saint-Germain, The base is stamped, St. Germain JME. The base houses the musical movement, playing ten tunes on a carillon of ten bells with nineteen hammers. The enamel dial is signed, L Dauthiau, Hger Du Roy, A Paris. Rococo motifs abound, and the musical trophy fret indicates placement in a music room.
