A lovely pink-veined marble urn-shaped mantel clock with ormolu mounts and two horizontal enamel-cartouche engraved gilt-brass chapter rings for the hours and minutes.

In this period, French horologists returned to more stately forms. There was great variety in cases using a variety of materials, such as marble and inventive use of porcelain. Vases, urns, lyres, columns, and porticoes showed a return to classical motifs, and exhibited the continuing artistic inventiveness of the French clockmakers.
