Pillar and Scroll Shelf Clock with Visible Escapement and Strike

Terry, Eli (1772–1852)

Plymouth, Connecticut, circa 1815

Desription

Finely crafted wooden works, extremely rare horizontal movement, thirty-hour duration with striking. Painted wooden dial has visible escapement, rare for this early version, below 12:00. Mahogany case with an églomisé tablet below, and inside label “Patent, invented, made and sold by Eli Terry, Plymouth Conn.”, an early label version. These features make this clock a rare find.
