The Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors 43rd Annual Art Exhibit featured this painting in 1957. It correlates with Dietrich’s Lingerie Store painting from the same time. Triangulating figures against a Cubist background are interesting features of this work. The blare of colors underscores the events taking place in the painting. As Dietrich advanced in his career, he experimented with different styles and subject matter. However, he was always documenting American life, even its more seedier aspects.
